RRP student wins poetry competition

Zukhruf Sultan, a 5th grader at DIL Chappar, won first place in a poster and poetry competition for area schools.
DIL Chappar is a village school that enrolls 84 students and serves a poor community in rural Rawalpindi, where families live on bare subsistence and highly patriarchal families believe a girl’s place is at home.
The principal is working hard to change perceptions and improve the school’s visibility in the community. In November 2014, DIL partnered with other nonprofits to raise community awareness and advocacy around sanitation and hygiene.
